A Beautiful Kosher Wedding Cake | Jewish Wedding Photography

I had to know. I want to be able to share with you guys the findings and insights of wedding planning. Today it happened. I found that a beautiful kosher wedding cake is indeed possible to find, and it’s right here in the New York area. Let me introduce you to the world renowned owner and baker of Ron Ben-Israel Cakes.

These cakes are absolutely stunning, so you needn’t look further. Image copyright Ron Ben-Israel Cakes. For more information on these magnificent cakes, visit their website www.weddingcakes.com.

“Ron Ben-Israel, 53, is the face behind Ron Ben-Israel Cakes, a specialty bakery in Manhattan that creates towering desserts and intricate sugar decorations for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, birthdays and corporate events. He can whip up a 10-tiered cake decorated with his signature sugar flowers, create an adorable edible teddy bear and even recreate a skyscraper in his Manhattan studio.

Though Ben-Israel grew up secular in Tel Aviv, “I have a very strong sense of who I am as a Jew and a strong sense of belonging,” he said. So when he sought out kosher certification for his bakery, he wanted the best. “Just like I am a food snob, I am also a rabbinical snob,” he said. After being dissatisfied with two kosher certifying agencies, Ben-Israel landed with OK Kosher Certification, “and I just fell in love.” The organization only certifies pareve cakes from Ben-Israel’s bakery.

The relationship between Ben-Israel and the agency developed, and “they really influenced me to change the way I was eating, the way my life is,” he said. The secular Israeli no longer eats shellfish or pork, or mixes meat and milk.” The Jewish Week, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 by Amy Spiro.

Get Calm Before the Big Day | Jewish Wedding Photographers

Most of us aren’t used to being in front of a camera. I will even confess, I’m not sure I’ve gotten used to it myself, being that I spend most of my time behind the camera. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t get comfortable. Don’t let it be one of those “I’ll never be able to…[fill in the blank here]” feelings.

Our goal is to make our chosson & kallah look as good as they feel. (And feel as good as they look). We want you to feel comfortable and at ease, just having your picture taken because you’re so irresistible. You are! Don’t forget, you’re getting married today [tomorrow, or very soon].

The best thing you can do to feel comfortable on your wedding day is to have an engagement shoot with your chosen photographer. This may be at your vort, or a special time set aside to spend with your chosson (or kallah), and your wedding photographer. This will take all the scariness out of being photographed on your wedding day, just knowing who’s going to be behind the camera, and what it feels like to be the “star of the show”.

Feature Detail: Cake Cutting |Jewish Wedding Photography

Everyone loves a delicious slice of a cake. However, slicing into a wedding cake is not only about getting the resulting tasty crumbs and licks of creamy frosting. The action of cutting the cake is the fun part. For the chosson & kallah, it may even be the only part. Who has time to eat cake at their own wedding?

Below you’ll find a few images that we love of those laugh-out-loud cake cutting moments. Maybe these will inspire you to order a cake for your wedding. Or, maybe they’ll just remind you how excited you are to marry your other half. Either way, enjoy!

What are your memories worth? | Jewish Wedding Photography

It’s obviously an integral part of our work. We’re clearly dealing with it all the time, but it’s been on my mind more than usual lately. What are your memories worth? How much should you invest in your photography, which lasts a lifetime?

Your wedding is one of the most costly endeavors you take on as a couple, until you marry off your own children and make iy”H many more weddings. We know they’re expensive, and we’re not about to fool anyone into thinking that hiring us will help you fulfill your perfect-wedding-that-didn’t-cost-a-dime dream.

But I’m writing to bring up what we as a couple, think is important in the whole engagement to wedding to marriage beginning. The diamond, and the wedding photography. They are inherently valued, and last forever. The hall is forgotten, the food digested, and the flowers wilt, but your wedding images will be something you can enjoy throughout your years together. Of course, I am not saying that the other aspects of a wedding do not enhance the simcha and pleasure of a wedding. They also enhance your images! However, we understand that it isn’t uncommon to be on a budget, and that some  may need to make a cut here or there. Don’t make it photography. Cut your budget somewhere else. You know what our clients on a budget tell us? They say, “We want to hire you because even though we can’t afford more now, we want to be able to invest in more [products] later. If we get everything now at a price we can afford, we won’t have the quality to work with that we’ll have if we hire you.”

All this is coming from the perspective of a husband and wife who have about 3-5 (actual figures) images that we’re happy with from our own wedding, see my blog post on “What I would have done differently for {my Wedding}”. It’s only one day, and the images are what you have left to tell of it.

But that’s just our opinion. Make your choice by visiting www.laibelschwartz.com.

All my best,
